5 days Gorilla trekking tour trips in Uganda and Rwanda

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi National park.

Have a cup of tea at your hotel where the company guide/representative will pick you up and transfer you to western Uganda (Bwindi Impenetrable National Park).As you enjoy the travel, you will have a stop over at the Equator to take some photos and also experience changes in your body weight. There after continue to Mbarara town where you will stop for lunch before heading through the grasslands of Ankole. Here you will enjoy the outstanding long horned cattle before going on to the highlands of Kigezi referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa”. Arrive in Bwindi  late evening, freshen up as you wait for dinner and overnight  at Gorilla Resort  hotel/Buhoma community Bandas.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking Uganda Bwindi National Park.

baby-gorilla-ugandaAfter breakfast, assemble for briefing from ranger guides who will lead you through the impenetrable forest. Tracking the Gorillas through the thick forest is an overwhelming experience that every one wishes to be part of the drama. If you are lucky you can get to see the gorillas, spend 1 hour with them, and be back at the lodge in time for lunch and it’s the vise versa because some times the tracking takes the all day.  Commit to memory to carry with you packed lunch, enough water as this activity is so tiring, its also important to wear good hiking boots of an ankle level and long trousers for protection against stinging nettles. Some times the slope may be steep so you should carry some walking sticks for support. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort hotel/Buhoma community Bandas.

Day 3 Transfer to Rwanda

Following breakfast, depart for  Rwanda passing through the Ankole region, where you will see the typical Ankole cattle, coffee plantations and the different vegetations of the pearl of Africa up to the terraced and cultivated hills of the Kigezi region, best known as “the Switzerland of Africa”. Kisoro is positioned at the base of Muhavura volcano at the borders between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. The vicinity has one of the best sceneries as you continue past the border and reach Ruhengeri in Rwanda. Arrive in time for dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi guest house.

Day 4: Final Gorilla trekking Rwanda.

gorilla-trackingAfter breakfast, drive to ORTPN offices for briefing after which set off in the forest for Gorilla trekking. Gorilla tracking is so very tiring but enjoyable on encounter of these gentle giants. Carry with you a parked lunch and plenty of water. The excitement of your coming across with these calm giants will wipe away your complexity of the potentially tough trek. Spend time watching gorillas, watch the adults feeding their young ones, brushing and resting as the youngsters play from vines in a pleasantly playful display. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi guest house.

Note: Alternatively if you complete you’re tracking very early,   our guides are accepted to transfer you to Kabale to shorten the distance in case you are to catch up with you back home flight from Uganda.

Day 5: Transfer to Kampala or Departure plus an optional city tour.

After breakfast drive back to Kampala. Lunch en route arriving in the early evening in the time of the return flight back home.

OR If your departure flight  is at Kigali Airport, Have a morning leisure breakfast with an optional city tour ,Then later transfer to the Airport in the time for the flight back home and that marks the end of your safari.
