Day 1: Arrival & drive to Volcanoes National Park
Arrive and enjoy a city tour of Kigali before traveling to the town of Ruhengeri, the main base for Gorilla trekking. The city tour depends on your arrival time. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla’s Nest Lodge/ Kinigi guest house (FB).
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
Take breakfast and head for, gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas is via the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga which is a fabulous experience. If you are chanced, you are able to reach the gorillas in just less than 30 minutes, take an hour with them, and return to the lodge in time for a late lunch. Most of gorilla families however are more hard to brooch down and tracking can take a full day, particularly when it is wet and muddy. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Kinigi guest house (FB).
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking or a trip to Gesenyi in Rwanda
Take a tour to the golden monkeys or take a trip to Gisenyi with a stopover at Ross Carr’s orphanage and Lake Kivu, climb the Visoke/Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey’s grave, or tour the local school and community projects or walk to Lake Bulera. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Kinigi guest house (FB).
Day 4: Departure plus Airport transfer.
Enjoy your final breakfast plus relaxed lunch at the hotel before your transfer to the Airport for your return flight back home and that marks the end of your safari. (HB).
